Objective:The present study aimed to explore the positive bias of self-face during attractiveness evaluation and the extent. Methods:Experiment 1 adopted two methods, paired comparison and subjective rating, to identify the posi-tive bias of self-face attractiveness evaluation. Experiment 2 used an average face as a reference to further explore the de-gree of positive bias found in Experiment 1. Results:The results of Experiment 1 showed that individuals exhibited a posi-tive bias of self-face attractiveness evaluation, that they thought they were more beautiful in their own eyes than in others', with no differences between males and females. Experiment 2 showed that female participants perceived their own-face's attractiveness to be lower than that of the average face. While for males, there was no difference in perceived attractiveness between their own face and the average face. Conclusion:There are positive bias when individuals evaluate their own face's attractiveness, and this overestimating bias is limited(i.e., lower than the average face).
