Objective:To revise the Co-Rumination Questionnaire in middle school students and assess its validity and reliability. Methods:Totally 644 middle school students(sample 1) were recruited to complete the test version for item and exploratory factor analysis. Totally 300 middle school students(sample 2) were tested with formal version for further confir-matory factor analysis, convergent validity, discriminant validity, composite reliability and internal consistency reliability analysis. The criterion validity was tested with the Center for Epidemiologic Studies Depression Scale(CES-D-20), the brooding and reflection subscales of RRS, the intimate disclosure and exchange subscale of FQQ and the State Anxiety In-ventory(S-AI) by choosing 260 students from sample 1. Totally 100 students from sample 1 were retested for test-retest reli-ability with five weeks interval. Results:The explanatory factor analysis produced 3 factors including Rehashing, Encourag-ing Problem Talk, and Dwelling on Negative Affect. The accumulating explanatory rate of the 3 factors was 53.75%, and the results of confirmatory factor analysis showed that CRQ had a good construct validity(χ2/df=1.975, CFI=0.901, TLI=0.890, IFI=0.902, RMSEA=0.064, RMR=0.056). The CRQ scores were positively correlated with scores of CES-D, the brooding and reflection subscales of RRS, the intimate disclosure and exchange subscale of FQQ(r=0.18, 0.18, 0.17, 0.25, P<0.01 for all). Cronbach's α coefficient and the test-retest reliability were 0.93 and 0.78 for the total scale, the internal consistency reliability and the composite reliability were 0.91, 0.85, 0.73 and 0.91, 0.85, 0.73 for the 3 factors. Conclusion:The CoRumination Questionnaire is a reliable tool to assess the co-rumination with close same-sex friends in Chinese middle school students.
