Mild cognitive impairment (MCI) is a very unstable transition cognitive state that lies between the normal aging and dementia, and has very high likelihood of conversion to dementia. In this paper, the development progress and the epidemiological study results of MCI have been systematically described. At the same time, the research results on MCI diagnosis and identification in neuropsychology, molecular biology, neuropathology, neuroimaging and electrophysiological have been reviewed.
